José José Hidalgo Barquín

I believe in artistic practice as a means of knowledge, a path towards the spirit, and a constant search for the magic inherent in the universe. The work is the testimony of an enquiry into everyday life. The various presentations are evocations, searches, contacts with the desire to penetrate the flow of life.

JOSÉ JOSÉ HIDALGO BARQUÍN (Manzanillo, Cuba, 1985)
He graduated from the Academy of Arts “Carlos Enríquez” in Manzanillo, Cuba, 2005. He has held the personal exhibition “Details and shadows of my House”, “Carlos Enriquez” Gallery, Manzanillo, 2005; and participated in twenty group exhibitions in Manzanillo and Havana. He has obtained several recognitions, among which the Award from the Cuban Fund for Cultural Assets FCBC stands out in the VIII Small Format and Landscape Hall. His works are found in Brazil (in the collection of Jackie Shor), in Austria (in the collection of Marina Riss), and in the United States of America, and Canada (in private collections). He lives and works in Havana, Cuba.
